The cat belly lessons are not for the cat
(Be warned, this is cat belly cuteness overload of reality)
The cat belly is the one thing most of us cat people want to touch. We get all gooey when we see the cat roll over and expose this grand area of fur. In proportion to the rest of the cat, it is a wide yet fairly flat surface area so rubs are easy. And soooo soft.
We want to feel the fur between our fingers and feel the softness of the belly. We want to hear the purring of the cat and the stretching of their paws as they enjoy a belly rub. But we all know that we may be putting our hand in a venus fly trap. Things could turn out different especially if it is you who wants the rub and not the cat!
This brings us to the lesson of “wanting.”
The power of “wanting” is really strong. It is so strong that it compels us to do things we might not do under certain circumstances. This can be a good thing when we are motivated with purpose and direction. We can use that power of want to bring us what we desire. The feeling of want is powerful and it can create change.
Just make sure that when you feel those senses scream with anticipation over giving this cat belly a good rubbing, that it is a “want” not a “need.”
A need is demanding, addicting and mind numbing as we can’t look beyond it. We need the belly, we need to rub it, now! So we do it without thinking or weighing the consequences of how it may affect another or our self. Oops.
A want is a state of mind where we can find flexibility.
We can be gentle with the want because it can go in different directions. It can also be fleeting. You may want that belly now, but not later when the same situation is exposed to you. You may decide now is not the time so you can add patience to the feeling of want. In some cases we realize we don’t want it all. It’s just an illusion; a fleeting thought that creates a feeling; a desire for something we “feel”we want.
Can you take it or leave it? Does it come with consequences? Is it a substitute for something else in your life? Will it create a pissed off cat, or will it bring a happy cat. Is it good for all?
Is it about unconditional love or selfless desire?
Life is about making choices and it is about following your purpose with good intention for everyone including the cat! You can see that we are all connected to the big “wants” in life. We all have them and we all follow them. Do you follow them blindly or with an open cat-eye of reality?
These “wants” extend to all aspects of your life, so remember to ask yourself one more question.
Once you fill this desire of the “want”, will you still be happy?
The venus fly trap of cat truth is that you need to be mindful, patient and aware of what you truly want. ( Cat belly included!)
Once you put into physical action the “want”, be sure it is true to your heart. There is no turning back.
Success is getting what you want. Happiness wanting what you get.

NO cat bellies were harmed in the writing of this post. A few were rubbed with good intention, caution and love.
Yes, the cats are happy and so am I.
Peace, Hugs & Purrs!
