The Kitten bowl is coming! The Superbowl is coming! Woo Hoo!
Exciting times getting ready to watch the men play football and watch the kittens run around and look so adorable. yippee.
This is also a time when we see the effects of the big wins and the big losses. For those on the loosing side, it can be a very sad cat day.
For a long time, I never watched sports because I never like that win/lose feel. I also never liked the feeling of anticipation…of waiting for something to happen. It is that lack of control I surmise. I also felt the highs and lows of team lose and win were exhausting year after year.
I wondered… Is it all worth it?
I can sit here with my adorable kitten and ponder the whole “loosing can bring great lessons” spiel, but after a while it too will “lose” its appeal.
This is so hard as an observer, I wondered how competitors can have lose after lose but still continue forward being in the ‘game.’
I learned that some of the most competitive people are those who live life to the fullest IN the present moment.
These “artists” in their own right, who are competitive by nature, hone their craft by living life to the fullest, being the best of who they can be while making no exceptions or excuses. We see that most if not all find their competitive nature lies deep within; it is their internal spirit that needs expression.
These athletes have an amazing attention to detail and their ability to have complete awareness in the present moment bringing complete clarity of what needs to be done.
When these athletes are in the active state of play, they are fully present; it is their ultimate Zen.
As one of the famous martial artists, Bruce Lee said…
“One great cause of failure is lack of concentration.”
I think we all have that internal drive to find our purpose and to let it shine, however it is not easy and not without sacrifices, disappointments and patience.
Year after year these athletes find their Zen continuously in the engagement of what they are doing; embracing their soul purpose by being completely alive and connected in who they are including the ups and downs. That to me is the ultimate win and they are blessed to have that ability to do so.
So, sitting in front of the TV on Superbowl Sunday I will be an observer of some of the most competitive people in the world. ( kitten bowl included!) I will do my best to observe from a place of presence, doing my best not to attach to the outcome of the game. Instead, I want to enjoy every moment of it from kickoff, through silly commercials and even through the exciting half-time show.
I want to truly enjoy the game in the presence it is played.
Ladies…
p.s…It’s nice to watch some football players play with the kittens, right?
Here you go…..
If I could find more, I would post them. Just saying.
Peace, hugs and football!
