Life is not easy, thankfully Zen is
-KT Cat Paws
I have been on a journey as of late, one in which I “wake-up” to open consciousness as a natural state of being.
Like the cat when they open their eyes and then close them and nothing changes.
Still present, still aware of everything around them.
There is no past, no present, just presence in the place they sit. Their presence is astounding and a lesson for us to learn.
Could you imagine a cat dreading the future. “I don’t know Sam Cat, what are we gonna do if we don’t get our 14 hours of sleep?” “How will I ever function for tomorrow’s play date!” or “what will I do if I gain a pound from that tuna I ate!”
This sounds silly, yet we do it all the time.
In this journey it is easy to get suck in the past and spin around the present.
What is nice is when we get a glimpse of this awakened state, it opens our eyes.
Once you have touched the open space of your inner being, it becomes a “pad to purpose”, literally.
Thoughts just float in and attach to nothing. There is a powerful undercurrent that is spacious and alive.
I know myself to be nothing. Consciousness without distinguishing marks. It is a mystery how it can appear to be compressed into a little life and a little body and the experiences of daily life. I close my eyes, and suddenly what is there has nothing to do with the little story I call me.

Try this Meditation for Openness
A great visualization to use for openness is to envision that you are on a high-top hill sitting under the vast stars.
The only thing you see around you are the stars. Really see the stars.
Now, relax and really pull your awareness into your body and feel yourself becoming a translucent being.
As you do, see the stars merge and expand within you.
Now, expand your body outward.
Open & stretch yourself around the stars in the universe.
Breathe into that for a few…
YOU are the universe …the sacred divine.
All is within you!
Many say this desire to wake-up feels like a sense of something more, an annoying cat scratch you can’t avoid.
It is true that more and more people are starting to “wake-up” and more people are starting to pay attention to it. When we feel this glimpse we realize that this sense of being is in all of us.
My question, are you still “cat napping?”
