All my life, my heart has yearned for a thing I cannot name.

Miss Mattie says…
I have decided to change the name of my litter box.
I don’t like the name litter. It reminds me of the stuff you put in it- crap. It also reminds me of a bunch of kittens. ::shutter::
I think the word litter is degrading to my box. I won’t, can litter degrade a box? I can’t imagine how. Huh. That would not be good for my behind. Just saying.
Anyway, I should change the name of my litter box to the “Zen Box” or my “Secret Garden”, or “Miss Mattie’s Get-down to business box.”
Hey, don’t laugh at me.
I have seen your outside so called “zen” garden and I know what those primitive cats and dogs do to it. Your roses are now wilting. Maybe you should go tend to them and let me continue on.
What is the difference between that and my box besides the size and odor. I suppose the roses help the situation outside.
At least the humans have a name which implies the place of their business instead of where they go. They go to the bathroom instead of the toilet box. They even call their litter box a “lady’s room”. How sweet and delicate. I like that.
I realize I am being a picky but it is important to give this space a warm feeling. To make it my own and to feel proud of it. It really needs some ‘girly’ energy and flare. It needs Sassiness and maybe glitter. If I had some stickers I could use those too. “Garden box or bust.”
This is like a new paint job, a new insight, and a place that holds litter plus good energy to do my sacred business.
It does kinda resemble a zen garden so it wouldn’t take much work.
It has lumps, an outside edge and when I rake it, it can look really pretty. Rather peaceful I say.
Perhaps I need a Buddha statue for my litter box or just a picture of Mr. Bailey as he seems to think he is a Buddha cat.
I know I definitely need a gardener too!
Oh wait. I have one of those as my human often cleans out my secret garden.
Ooooh, how about a waterfall?
Ok, maybe not. Too much right?
Mr.Bailey is listening to me babble so he suggested that I ponder this question.
(He can be a cat buzz kill sometimes)
If you put a paw print in a Zen garden is it still a Zen garden?
If I put a paw print in a Zen Garden, will I find my Zen faster?
I suppose I should wait to rename my box. I might change my mind in the future as us girls do that often. When I do, I want the legal trademark rights. Just saying.
Mr Bailey’s wise cat wisdom
No matter what you call something, it doesn’t make it so. A title is in your mind. When you can find inner contentment, the name of the box will not matter because Zen is Zen despite what you call it. Looking to the future to make things different is looking to what is not in your present moment…yet.
This is all a projection of what you are ‘planning’ on doing in the future which takes you out of the now of the moment.
Yes, it is good to plan, but you still need to plan with intention and mindfulness and realize that what you have now is all you need.
Your thoughts about the box may change, but the box still remains the same. Be content with what you have and forget about labels, paint or glitter as they are limiting to your spacious mind.
Yes, I am a Buddha; everyone including you has Buddha nature within. So, maybe you should put your own picture up.
Accept what is….now.
