full moon ritual to connect to cat essence

This full moon ritual will help you connect to your 9 traits of a Zen Cat, the power of the moon and the ways and wisdom of the cat. If you open your mind, let the magic happen you may be surprised of the results, especially with your own inner awakening.

You can do this full moon ritual alone or with friends. Up to you!
Do this on Friday the 13^th,full moon or any full moon night!

Items needed

Use a table or small area where you can see the moon. You can do this outside or in front of a window, just make sure you’re not disturbed. Consider this your cat altar. Clean the area, use a nice table cloth or altar cloth, then place images of a cat(s), or other objects that you see as a personal reflective of the cat and or the moon.

Get a piece of thick cord 2 feet long; any color that represents you. ( one for each person joining you)
Candle ( 2 or3)
- 1 or 2 white for the moon candle
- Green for the “nature” aspect of cat. Can use ‘color’ of cat if you wish.
CLEAN Ceramic bowl with fresh spring water. You can use a ceramic cat bowl, but it must be clean, you will sip out of it.
Cat Image, statue or actually cat
Incense or nice smelling candle that connects you to the moon; opens your senses.
Matches and container to put them in afterwards.
napkin(s)

Place your bowl in the middle with water in it. The cord should be in front of it and the candles to the back. (This way they are out of the way of your arms and cat tails. Remember to watch cats; they tend to love the energy with moon rituals. Seven day candles work best as they are Tail-flaming resistant.

FYI- Words you say out loud are written in italics.

Now, I want you to relax, take a few deep breaths in… do this three times. Look up to the moon and relax with it. Feel the energy and light pouring down upon you.

Light your moon candle

State..I sit here ready to connect to the power of the moon, the essence of the Moon who brings the light of awareness.

Light your cat (green) candle

State…By the light of the full moon and the wisdom of the cat, I partake in this ritual to open my senses to the ways and wisdom of the cat; to honor my own cat essence within!

Hold up bowl to the sky and let the moon reflect in the water of the bowl.

State… I charge my water with the energy of the moon; infuse my purpose and way.

Now take a purposeful sip… and feel the energy flow within.

State…The moon energy flows within me. My light shines from within.

Now sprinkle some of the moon water around the altar, around you and on the cord.

State…I cleanse the area making it sacred. I cleanse the cord as my representation of my journey though self-discovery.

Pick up the cord, hold it up to the sky so the moonlight hits it and then bring it back down.

Take a few deep breaths and remember to remain aware and focused on the here and now.

State with conviction…I connect to the essence of the cat and the powers they contain.

Start at one end, read the essence title out loud (in bold) and then tie one knot. After you tie it, hold on to the knot and read the accompanying statement. Focus and do this slowly taking your time to think of how each essence connects and resonates with you. Continue one knot for each essence; 9 in total. If you get stuck, or can’t connect, quiet your mind, let it become black like the black cat. Explore that color and see what insight comes to mind. (This may be an essence you need to work on later)

PATIENCE: This is always the beginning. Patience to start a journey. Patience to continue on. Patience to know when to act or remain passive. Patience when times get tough or patience when I am inpatient!
PLAYFUL: To be playful so I can expand upon my adventurous side. I can live life with a sense of laughter and joy, not taking anything to serious. I become infectious and magnetized!
INQUISITIVE: I seek to gain knowledge and to be curious about the world and my unique paw print within it. I can be open to new experience, new way of thinking without being afraid. I hold on to what I like and discard what I don’t. I have the right to change my curious mind too!
DETERMINED: I can be focused and goal oriented without losing my identity. If anything I will become more of who I am. I work in cooperation, not competition with others.
SASSY: Hell yea! I am feisty, alive, and spirited. I embrace my entire essence. I know my truth and I walk it with my head held high! Perhaps I bring a bit or sarcasm or attitude. It’s all me, all good and always with good intention & sass!
LOVING: I am loving, kind and compassionate. I am reflective of that love within, expanding it outward to others without conditions. I don’t hold on to the love string to tight, instead, I allow others to grasp it or let it go, either way I remain present and in loving grace.
INTUITIVE: I embrace my intuitive abilities. That internal knowing that is independent from direct information, knowing it always has my best interest in mind while aligning to my heart center and authentic self.
ZEN-ESSENCE: I remain present, mindful and open to all experiences in my life. I embrace the universal web that brings a sense of wonder and peacefulness and I connect to the subtle energy of the universe, the earth and others with these similar traits.
REVERED SACRED FEMININE: I acknowledge this aspect in me, in others and in the 9 traits as it’s a combination of all the other essences to tap into the potential of the divine within. This Essence is in all women and we honor our whole self to become our true nature. Generation to generation we are waking up this divine essence as we carry life and the seed forward so others can embrace the Divine within.

Hold on to your cord; take a few moments to connect to the 9 traits of a zen cat as a whole.

Sprinkle more water upon it.

State…I infuse you with the energy of the moon. To learn how to wax or wane, accept or embrace, hold or release, keep or surrender, while I always ebb and flow with grace. I acknowledge the constant changing tides that are needed to become my authentic self; 9 cat essence and all!

Touch the cord to a cat or image

State…By the direction of 3×3; the number 9 , the wisdom and ways of cat and by the power and light of the moon, I will centered and balanced in my own unique essence.

Hold it to your heart then kiss the cord

State… With a gentle heartbeat of love and by my breath, I seal this with a kiss; with my breath of being, I now honor MY commitment to myself!

Put the cord down, take a few breathes in.

Thank the Moon for her presence and her energy. Put out white candle(s)

Thank the Cat for its wisdom and presence. Put out green candle.

Have something to eat, give the cat a treat and enjoy the evening!
Dump the water outside under a tree or plant. Give them an added kick of moon essence!
Put the cord away in a safe place or leave it on the altar as a cat-essence reminder.

Future use:

You can also use this as a focal point for the next full moon, connecting with a different knot (cat-essence) at each full moon.
You can also hold it to meditate on the different cat-essences. Start with one that is comfortable and embrace it some more, then try to work on another that is unfamiliar or where you need some additional guidance. Your best guide is within…use it!
Don’t discount the magic in the waking world. If the cat decides to play with it, think of it as the universe nudge to do some spiritual contemplation.
