Sometimes the best advice can be given by a cat
by Mr. Bailey the zen cat
Cats like things constant. Humans like things constant. I got some words of wisdom for you…Nothing is constant.
Everything changes…everything. You can even check out Miss Mattie’s Litter Box thoughts on change. She learned this valuable lesson.
We like to believe that change is not occurring. That if we do the same thing or fight for what is, it will not change. We will be cozy like a cat in a blanket all cuddled up in denial where everything remains the same.
As Grumpy Cats says…No.
Purr into that for a moment.
Remember this mantra:
What is now is only now, tomorrow is an illusion of today.
I know that sounds deep, but think about it. Does tomorrow exist right now? No. Does tomorrow exist tomorrow? You don’t know, it is not here yet.
If you start to fight against change, then say that mantra until it sinks in your stubborn cat head. If you don’t believe it, then before you chew the cat grass, watch it grow. Yes, you can actually watch some grass grow right in front of you. You can watch change change right in front of you!
You are not the unchanging constant in the center of all the change around you. What is around you changes and you change too. Even Miss Mattie fights against “what is.” She things her ninja ways will out run change. Some day she will have wrinkly whiskers too.
If you quiet your mind and allow yourself to be present in the moment, you can see the subtle changes around you. It becomes a way to be a curious cat, without resistance.
Appreciate change and recognize the simplicity of it. When you notice smaller changes, you are not as overwhelmed when the big ones occur.
Change is a friend, unlike a dog. It brings new experiences and an appreciation of past memories.
Above all, As the Greek Philosopher Heraclitus says….
“There is nothing permanent except change.”
Once you realize that, you are on your way to being a zen cat who accepts what is.
Mr. Bailey. ( hoping the litter box was changed today)
