A cat and her sun spot
Thursday Cat Thought
By Miss Mattie
I was stretched out in the middle of the floor basking in the sunlight. I was warm and cozy and feeling all sleepy. Ahhh… life is good.
Now, I don’t know if I need sun like my human does, but still it is one of my favorite things to do.
I noticed that after a few moments, ( or it could have been an hour, not sure as I am a cat and can’t tell time) I noticed that my back paw and tail started to get cool.
It wasn’t getting any sun.
I moved over, readjusted everything in the middle of the sun spot and resumed my basking.
It happened again.
This time my ear was cool.
I could see out of the corner of my eye this darkness creeping into my bright circle of sun, getting ready to cast a shadow upon my nose.
What the hell?
Why do these sun spots move?
I know the window is big enough and I know that Mr. Bailey’s wasn’t in the way, so why do these shadows continue to vex me?
Is this some “zen” lesson that is teasing me? Must be.
I can hear Mr. Bailey in the distance, beyond the shadow of my warm spot saying….
“Once you get comfortable with what it, it will change…again.”
I don’t like. He can put his quote where the sun don’t shine!
I resolve to fight for my sun spot, for as long as the sun shines.
