Real freedom is being free from the constraints of the mind.
I am a patriotic cat who loves his country as I have cat freedom and protection. I also feel blessed to have the freedom to express my sassy ways and my thoughts on my blog. Plus us cats are the best pets around! Move over dogs, us cats are on your tail!
High Paw to the USA!
When it comes to this day of celebration and acknowledgment of independence, I become more dependent on my human to keep me safe, yet I become more independent in my thinking as I have to think and be creative in my ways from under the bed. That is where you will find me during these 4th of July celebrations and it is different than “thinking outside the box.” Trust me.
I think us cats should get to celebrate our Independence on the 5th of July when it is quiet. When we can enjoy and embracing the ‘freedom’ from loud noises and startling sounds. When we can enjoy being in a quiet place and away from the scared feeling, dust bunnies and peeking humans head that we had to tolerate.
When Independence Day is finally over and the festivities become a thing of the past, it is a celebration and a good day to be a cat!
Today, I built up my cat courage to meander from under the bed. I stretched myself upright, putting my nose to the fresh air. I looked outside and realized nothing is different, but everything is brighter. It happens when your eyes are only adjusted to seeing only carpet and the underside of a bed. Plus, an occasional back end of another cat. Yes, these were trying times.
Today, the grass seems greener, the cat food smells fresher, the house seems bigger and the litter box seems cleaner.
Even the bird chirping seems louder. I think they were hiding too.
It is a good day to be a cat.
Today on this quiet Sunday, I will find a soft place to relax and clear my cat mind of these past two days. It is pawsome that I can finally hear myself think and purr. No booms, pops or crackles from fireworks. No loud humans to disturb my cat ways either.
It is a good day to be a cat.
Today, I will meaner around to find a small box to inhabit. I will cuddle up to the soft box sides squishing my body in tight. I will remain in my box just in case there is a residual stray boom, pop or loud human. In my box I will be protected. I will play with my toy, smell the lingering cat nip from the other day and perhaps I will let my mind relax as I embrace the simple ways of quiet Zen.
Later on, I will hang my head over the side of the box as I cat nap on and off. I may even display some soft belly fur to the world if I so desire. I will also eat in peace being mindful of how wonderful food is when you can hear yourself chew. I will eat the morsels provided and I will not complain if I don’t get tuna.
Today it is awesome day to be a cat, as I finally understand the meaning of freedom on this quiet lazy Sunday afternoon.
