The comfort of our shoe in direct correlation to the comfort of our mind.

One walks a mile in a shoe… providing it has a decent heel and had an insert to keep our feet comfy.
Shoes are a billion dollar business and except for fashion and practical reasons, they are not thought of much. For an item that holds a lot of space in your closet and causes empty space in the wallet, we think about them briefly.
It is almost estimated that each women has about 27 pairs of shoes and the average for a man is about 12 or so. WOW!
We have shoes for all occasions…sneakers, heels, flats, boots and even slippers. (Are slippers shoes?)
The next time you open your closet to find just the right pair, look at it with a new perspective. Look at the colors, the fabric, and the shape. The shoe that you probably take for granted may show you the sacred in the ordinary.
Learning to walk in a mindful shoe takes practice, here are a few tips.
- Shoes allow us to move, to walk toward our purpose. When we wear a good pair of shoes, we stand taller, have better posture and have more confidence.
- What we walk in is less important then how we walk.
- If a shoe never leaves the closet, is it really a shoe?
- If we have our shoes on, but never go anywhere, we are not living to our potential.
- Respect the other shoes and remember the journey of another is unique. Who are we to judge unless we can see the perspective from being someone else’s feet.
- Walking can teach balance, not just on our feet but in our mind and heart too.
- Walk slowly and mindfully, for the destination is never as important as the time it takes being present to get there.
- Dancing brings joy to our feet as it hears the song in our heart.
- When were done walking, can we reflect back and remember the journey? Did you pay attention?
- We need to watch our step; nothing is more eye-opening to life’s struggles then poop-on-a shoe.
- Our shoe print is a reflection of our individuality; unique and one of a kind.
- It is important to take our shoes off sometimes and go barefoot on the grass. Feel the cushion and connection to the earth, she is better then the best pair of slippers. It is grounding, good for our feet and great to center the mind. Wiggle the toes on the grass and giggle.
- The number of shoes we have is not as important as the joy that walking brings.
- It’s hard to walk the path of someones foot steps, especially if we’re not taught to first embrace our own.
- Our soul is directly connected to the soul of our foot.
- Find gratefulness in the shoes we have. When they fall apart or get old, we can understand the lessons of impermanence. (Nothing lasts forever)
- Question, if you had a glass slipper, who would you be?
- Be a sassy cat. Prance, don’t walk.
- Lastly and most importantly, always walk in truth of your inner purr.
A shoe has so much more to offer than just to walk.
