I was talking to a friend a while back about a project we were working on and we got on the subject of being grateful. The word that came out of my mouth was “grace-filled.” It was one of those universal slip-of the tongue that opened up a whole new realm of thinking for me.
The following morning I was reflecting on being grateful, but my mind went to being grace-filled instead.
It was early, right after the light of dawn. The breeze was gentle and the birds were just waking up with their morning song. The sunlight joyfully danced around the bouncing green leaves as it filtered into my tiny window. I just sat there infused with the warmth of the sun as I basked in the cocooning feeling of solitude.
The reflection of the sun and the simple beauty of what just “is” mirrored a serene feeling deep within. It was so warm and inviting that my breathing felt lighter and my heart felt open.
When I finally allowed a thought to express my emotion, I felt so open to this present moment that I had an ultimate feeling of gratitude; grace.
The only way I can describe the feeling is to say it was an amplified appreciation for life.
It was spacious yet subtle. Quiet, yet flashy. I felt alone, yet completely connected to the universe.
Trying to capture this feeling was impossible, as this vessel of grace has no words. My analogy is it is the space within, a container that holds your timber of essence. It is subtle, yet the more you infuse it with the thing that inspire and connect you to source, the brighter it becomes.
Everyone has grace -filled moments at one time or another. It’s those experiences that bring tears to your eyes. Seeing your newborn for the first time or feeling completely in sync with the world around you. Sensing un-conditional love that opens your heart fully, or looking up to the Milky Way on a dark night felling so small, yet so expansive.
The grace-filled space is not found in thought, in material things and it can’t be found when we demand it. It can be found when we become open to the space within the vessel. It is found in our positive emotions. It is found in self-less love and heart-felt gratitude.
This container is never depleted, yet it can overflow with ease. Connect to it and feel the warm. It opens with the key of love and gratitude.
To find this space, open all your senses to the serenity of stillness. Let is wash over you as you focus on your heart expanding as it basks in the pure vibrational energy of love.
When you feel gratitude hug your soul… accept it with simple appreciation.
Ways to connect to your grace-filled space.
- Be mindful, in the presence of now. Be spacious and allow what is to just be.
- Don’t deny or neglect a thank you or acts of appreciation that are given to you. Don’t analyze or brush it off. Instead, let it settle within, and when you have opened your heart, return the gift with a release of an honest, emotion filled “thank-you.”
- Keep a grace-filled journal of appreciation. This is NOT a diary or a place to complain about your day. It is a space to put in small words of appreciation.
- No more then on or two lines for each.
- Bullet point each one.
- Add an underlined emotion to each post. Add the emotion first, then the post. ( list of positive emotions)
- Examples- Appreciation-I almost lost this post, but I was able to recover it because of information from a reader. Serene-my cat sat next to me purring. Excited– I got let out of work 2 hours early. Happy- I got a front row parking spot at the grocery store.
For many of us, opening up to appreciation is a little difficult at first. Keep the simplicity of it and before you know it, you will see it in every facet of your life.
Peace, Purr and gratitude,
