Our cat mind is full of fluff….well actually confetti.
Yes, it is true, pooh-bear told me!
Kidding aside, in the article, “30 easy tips from a kitten to quiet an overthinking mind”, I discussed the number of thoughts one has in a day, the 30 ways a kitten can teach us to be mindful, plus there’s a fun mini-visualization to try.
So, I wanted to provide another mini-visualization here.
A way to see our thoughts and to recognize the power they have over our mind and our serenity.
This will show you how to have fun with thoughts while quieting that crazy thought party in your head. Or as pooh would say… “fluff.”
Sit and get comfortable and visualize the inside of your head…it has a dark background with all these colorful pieces of confetti floating around. (These are your thoughts) When you think of something, turn it into a colorful piece of confetti and read it as it passing on by. Let them float. See how many thoughts you have and how much confetti is floating around in your head.
Do nothing but watch them go by reading as much as you can. Are they negative, positive or recycled thoughts? That’s it, for now.

I am going to chew on that thought.
The next time you do this exercise add one of the below suggestion, giving time to really see this happening in your mind’s eye.
Try and visualize the “negative” confetti paper becoming transparent, disappearing or changing color into a positive thought.
Try to slow the confetti paper down by thinking less.
Let some of the old confetti thoughts drop to the bottom or back of your mind. If it is old, it is recycled, why let it float around?
This one can be fun, but harder than the other suggestions.
As you watch the confetti floating around, focus your attention on the dark spaces between them. What is there?
If a kitten was in your head they would have a party.
They would watch the thoughts with wide eyes. Stalk them and then pounce on the confetti! Eventually they would kill a few pieces. Do you ever wonder why we can’t just kill a few thoughts? Half the time we can’t even catch one!
A kitten would have lots of fun once the recycled confetti fell to the floor. They would play, jump and run through all the confetti. Some confetti would get suck on their fur too. Our thoughts get suck on us.
Many of us carry around bags and bags of confetti, when we could just let them all go.
Confetti is recyclable, thoughts should not be.
Ask yourself….With all of these pieces of confetti that float around in your head, how many end up on the floor? How many are really important to allow floating?
In the end, after all of this kitten fun and excitement, the end result is a cat nap on top of all these used up thoughts.
This is when we can see the usefulness of our thoughts; this is when we can understand Zen.
